COVE-EXSEE joined the National Welding Competition in Serbia to engage with industry, education and innovation stakeholders. Held on 22 May 2026 at MIND – Milanović Industries Group, the event brought together young talents, mentors, vocational education providers and industry representatives to promote excellence in welding, advanced manufacturing and skills development.

Organised as a joint initiative of the WELDNET EU Project in synergy with WELDIFY, the National Welding Competition provided an excellent platform for COVE-EXSEE to introduce the project and present its Interest Survey to key stakeholders from vocational education and training (VET), industry and regional innovation ecosystems.

Connecting Education and Industry:

Throughout the event, COVE-EXSEE engaged with companies, educators, learners and public stakeholders to promote stronger collaboration between vocational education and industry. These interactions support the project's mission of building responsive skills ecosystems capable of addressing current and future workforce needs across South-East Europe.

Supporting Future Skills Development:

The event formed part of COVE-EXSEE's first outreach activities, helping gather valuable stakeholder perspectives through the project's Interest Survey. The feedback collected will contribute to identifying skills needs, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the development of innovative training opportunities that reflect the evolving demands of modern manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Building Stronger Regional Ecosystems:

Participants explored how closer cooperation between education, industry and innovation can contribute to developing the next generation of industrial skills. Events such as the National Welding Competition demonstrate the importance of collaboration in creating more resilient, connected and future-oriented vocational education systems.

Acknowledgements:

COVE-EXSEE extends its sincere thanks to MIND – Milanović Industries Group, Secondary School "Knez Aleksandar Karađorđević" Kragujevac, REDASP Šumadija and Pomoravlje, the organisers, mentors and all participants whose contribution made this inspiring event possible.

Through participation in events like this, COVE-EXSEE continues to strengthen regional cooperation, promote vocational excellence, and support the development of innovative, industry-driven skills ecosystems across South-East Europe.
